Saniderm™ Aftercare
1. Keep the Saniderm™ on for 2-4 days after your appointment.
If the plasma underneath begins to leak or appears completely dry inside, remove the Saniderm™ following the instructions below.
Shower, sleep, work as normal while the Saniderm is on. This is important to protect from pets, dirty bedsheets, work environments, and clothing rubbing on your fresh tattoo.
You may see a dark “ink sack” form, which is a completely healthy and normal part of the process. Do not try to drain any liquid from the Saniderm™. If your Saniderm™ is in an area with excessive motion (arm pits, elbows, knees, etc.) be cautious of the skin starting to pull. If there is too much tension, remove the Saniderm or restrict movement for the next day or so. Avoiding to do this can cause minor blisters or skin irritation, which should not effect the overall tattoo.
2. Removing your Saniderm™:
Only remove Saniderm™ with the assistance of water!
DO NOT aggressively pull off the adhesive like ripping off a bandaid. Avoiding further trauma to the skin is key, treat this as you would treat an extreme sunburn.
Start by slowly peeling one corner and let water gently guide the rest of the adhesive free. With clean hands and UNSCENTED soap, lightly rub the tattoo area to remove any remaining adhesive and loose ink. PAT dry with a clean towel. Absolutely do not use a loofa, shaving/ exfoliating products, or soak the tattoo for at least two weeks.
3. For the next 2-3 weeks continue to treat your tattoo as a healing wound.
Clean bedding, protection from animals, non restrictive clothing, and avoiding direct sun is VERY important.
Lotion your tattoo no more than 2-3 times a day, using mild unscented lotion such as LUBRIDERM™. Peeling is a good thing, cracking is not. Continue to avoid itching and picking/peeling at all costs.
If you feel that a severe infection or allergic reaction is occurring, please contact your medical provider before contacting your tattoo artist. We will assist you to the best of our ability.
